NS Tories feed Tory hogs

Is anyone surprised that Rodney MacDonald’s Tories are handing out money from an unadvertised slush fund to ridings held by Tories?
This is Nova Scotia after all.
Here goverment money is not distributed based on what is good for the economy. In Nooooova Scooooootia, government money is handed out based on what is good for the party [...]
No surprise that Tory donors will get taxpayers’ money

Apple Valley Foods, Ledwidge Lumber and LED Roadway Lighting are receiving millions in taxpayer dollars for, well, this and that.
All have contributed to the Tory party and its candidates.
No surprise there.
And no surprise that EcoDev Minister Murray Scott says: “If that’s a fact, certainly I didn’t know.”
Yeah, Murrr.
The little word “certainly” is telling. It’s a [...]

That’s because Nova Scotia Preem Rodo McDodo is is topping up the provincial slop bucket with taxpayers’ money.
He’s dumping $175M into the trough to feed business.
It won’t matter if the businesses are viable or if they have a multiplier in the Nova Scotian economy. Rodo McDodo and his little band of merry men do not [...]
Nova Scotia Crystal bailout: What are they thinking?

With a financial meltdown taking down entire chunks of the economy, Rodney MacDonald’s Tories have decided to bail out a small manufacturer producing a luxury product with little or no potential to stimulate other parts of the economy.
According to AllNovaScotia.com, the government will announce a “business investment” in Nova Scotian Crystal today. In January the [...]
Rodney MacDonald can run, but he can’t hide

Premier Rodney MacDonald is shooting himself in the foot by refusing to give Nova Scotians an economic update.
Even members of his own cabinet want the update. They have split from their leader.
Hiding the provincial finances from taxpayers in a time of economic crisis is bad politics, bad economics, and bad optics.
And not telling tax payers [...]
Metaphor-gate shines light on dysfunctional Canada

If any politician has hopped “into bed” with another, it’s Rodney MacDonald going to the bed chamber of Stephen Harper.
Mike Duffy’s ill-chosen getting-into-bed metaphor was used to shallac PEI and Newfoundland premiers who are standing up to Harper who used the budget to beat up on little provinces and play them off against one another.
This, [...]
Rodney’s Tories running running scared

… and the election hasn’t even been called yet.
This week, they launched a Code Orange scare campaign against the NDP.
How fortuitous for the Dippers. This campaign works a number of levels for the opposition.
A. It gives them free time and space on the eve of an election
B. It makes the Tories look as though they’re [...]
Fee Fie Foe Scrum …

Rodney smells the blood of an election…
That’s why he doesn’t want to scrum with journalists. He wants distance, his own special lights, cameras and platforms. He wants journalists down there, and himself up here. He wants more control over the images and sound bites going out on suppertime news broadcasts, on websites and in newspapers.
This, [...]
Where’s the $75 million Rodney?
Posted in Rodney MacDonald on January 29, 2009 | Leave a Comment »
That would be the $75 million that Rodney says he signed for with Stephen Harper when they re-negotiated the Atlantic Accord.
It doesn’t appear to be in the recent federal budget. Hmm.
Rodney says it is there because he signed for the Atlantic Accord with Stephen Harper.
Of course, John Hamm signed for the first Atlantic Accord too, [...]
